August 5, 2008 | 3:33 pm

PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- McClenahan Bruer Communications (McBru), North America's leading full-service agency for deep-technology companies, announced today that David Smith, Brandon Wick and Matt Thorson have joined the company. Together, the three employees bring to McBru a rich combination of advertising, PR and marketing experience in both information technology (IT) and electronics industries.

McBru's new senior copywriter, David Smith, offers McBru's clients agency credentials, journalism experience, and engineering background. After a brief stint as an integrated circuit designer, David served as a staff editor at EDN and later at a sister publication of EE Times. He then worked at KVO Advertising and Public Relations (now part of Fleishman-Hillard) as senior writer and associate creative director. While at KVO, David founded and built the firm's Internet marketing group, and led it to measurable client success and industry leadership. David has also served as a consultant and held executive marketing positions at technology firms that deliver software and services over the Internet. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Cornell University.

Brandon Wick is a communications counsel with McBru. Brandon began work in technology marketing as a writer and consultant in Stockholm, Sweden managing global marketing campaigns for marketing agencies and IT companies. Brandon also researched and wrote the 2005 Swedish IT Industry Guide published by IDG. Before joining McBru, Brandon held the position of senior manager of communications for Cross-Cultural Solutions, an international non-governmental organization (NGO) in New York. Brandon holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Oregon and a master's degree in international affairs from the University of California, San Diego.

Matt Thorson, an associate communications counsel with McBru, started his career in public relations with Padilla Speer Beardsley (PSB) in Minneapolis, working with clients in the technology and manufacturing industries. During his time at PSB, Matt successfully conducted media relations, crafted various marketing collateral, and coordinated events. Prior to PSB, Matt worked in retail merchandising at Target Corp. Matt has a bachelor's degree in strategic communications from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

"McBru's commitment to excellence helps us attract top-performers such as David, Brandon and Matt," said Kerry McClenahan, CEO and president of McBru. "McBru employees prize the opportunity to do great work for clients while working alongside peers who are extraordinarily talented and who keep resetting the performance bar."
