Televisa Expands Use of Onstream Media's User Generated Video Services

August 6, 2008 | 10:30 am

POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Onstream Media Corporation (Nasdaq: ONSM), a leading online service provider of live and on-demand digital media communications and applications, reported today that Televisa, the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world, is expanding its multi-year business relationship with Onstream Media. Televisa is currently using Onstream Media's Digital Media Services Platform (DMSP) to facilitate the automated uploading, transcoding, hosting and streaming of user-generated video content within its Esmas social network portal. The new services will enable Televisa's audience to experience videos of increased quality as a result of applying higher bit rates, larger frame sizes, aspect ratios and improved codecs. Televisa is expected to use these high-quality video capabilities for new projects currently in development related to their Television production division.

Juan Bernardo Gonzalez Mendoza, Director of Technology of Televisa Digital, stated, "Onstream Media is one of our more important vendors, providing us with a solid and scalable platform for which we have grown our user-generated video business. The Esmas social network depends on the reliability and versatility of its integrated technologies to give our audience the best user experience possible. Onstream Media continues to meet our demanding requirements."

"Our business relationship with Televisa continues to grow," said Randy Selman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Onstream Media. "Our DMSP now supports hundreds of thousands of video views per day and has processed and delivered hundreds of millions of videos for Televisa and its various divisions since we began the service. We continue to innovate and improve our service offerings and as a result of both our ongoing development activities and recent technology acquisitions, we are able to continue to meet the expanding and changing needs of our major clients such as Televisa."
