PR News honored the year's top digital communications campaigns at its annual Digital PR Awards luncheon Nov. 16. PR professionals and social media strategists from b2b and b2c companies, nonprofit organizations and agencies across the country congregated at New York City's Yale Club to celebrate their digital communications victories in categories like cause marketing, employee communications and viral campaign.
As part of the luncheon, Chris Lewis, CEO and founder of LEWIS PR and author of "Too Fast to Think: How to Reclaim Your Creativity in a Hyper-Connected Work Culture," delivered a rousing keynote reminding communicators to take time away from their digital stimuli in order to be best positioned for inspiration to strike.
Digital PR Awards honorees attending the ceremony had a little surprise in store: Once winners stepped up to the podium, PR News editorial staff asked them point-blank to name the "aha!" moment that launched their winning campaigns. A PepsiCo representative, winning the Microsite category, discussed taking traditional print campaigns into the digital realm, while a Wakefern Food communications team member, accepting the award for Digital PR Team of the Year, pointed to localizing and humanizing her brand as her "aha!" moment.
