Charting The Industry: Sustainability Reporting: Alive & Kicking

As discussed in page one "Sustainability Reporting: Green Is the New Black," the communications industry - and business as a whole - has taken to the practice of going

"sustainable." Here are the charts and statistics to back it up. Consider it an impetus for action.

Global Reach:

  • 80% of the top 15 global brands issue reports that use the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI);
  • 43% of the top 100 global brands do so; and
  • 313 reports have been issued using GRI G3 Guidelines released in October 2006.

Local Reach:

  • 49 of S&P 100 issued comprehensive reports - 11 for the first time - in the period from June 2005 to December 2006; and,
  • More than 1/3 use GRI guidelines.
