Fortune Focuses on E-conomy with Launch

Fortune Magazine joins the newsstand collection of magazines focusing on e-business and e-commerce with a new title this May.

The magazine, eCompany Unlimited, will launch with an initial rate base of 200,000. The magazine will be a guide to doing business in the Internet age, yet another in the growing list trying to catch what's left of the early part of this lucrative wave.

Ned Desmond was named president and editor of the publication, which will be based in Silicon Valley.

According to Fortune Vice President of Communications Terry McDevitt, it's too soon to worry about pitching, especially since the new title's West Coast quarters are not settled.

"It's still a little premature" for pitching story ideas since the new title's content and direction are also still in the planning, McDevitt says.
