PRSA Gives Edelman the Gold

Daniel J. Edelman, chairman of Edelman Public Relations Worldwide, has been named this year's Gold Anvil Award winner by PRSA. The award constitutes the society's highest honor and is presented to a PR practitioner whose accomplishments have contributed greatly to the profession.

Edelman's eponymous firm, founded in 1962, boasts a global network of 38 offices on four continents and 50 international affiliates. For nearly half a century, Edelman has promoted the integrity of the profession and the preservation of the term "public relations." He also has advocated efforts to advance the visibility and impact of the profession. In the public service arena, he has underwritten five Congressional seminars designed to educate legislators about the critical need for mental health research in local communities.

Other luminaries on PRSA's award list include Judith S. Bogart, winner of the Paul M. Lund Public Service Award, and Drs. Carole Gorney (Lehigh University) and Barbara Bealor Hines (Howard University) - both winners of the Outstanding Educator Award. Award winners will be recognized on October 25 at PRSA's International Conference in Anaheim, Calif. (PRSA, 212/460-0310)
