What’s on Deck After Snapchat?

Ah yes, Snapchat. It's the fastest-growing social network among American millennials, according to a Harvard study. Another recent study, from Edison Research (by way of Jay Baer) says that Snapchat is better known than Pinterest or LinkedIn, and that it ranks second, after Facebook, as American’s favorite social network. Snapchat has 100 million daily active users; more than 60% of users are creating content every day; and the app boasts 10 billion+ video views per day (Facebook has 8 million). It's the future!

Except...parents are now using it ("Eww!"). And just this week, Snapchat added a feature called Memories, which enables users to save their snaps and stories and find them again easily. PR News' followers on Twitter have been complaining that Memories is just one more step in Snapchat's transformation into a Facebook wannabe. The ephemeral fun's gone. For some, it's time to move on to—what, exactly?

PR News has asked that very question in a contest it just launched on that grandaddy of social platforms, Twitter. Jump off this page now, go to Twitter, post which platform or app you think is going to explode in popularity next and use the hashtag #social16 before July 21. We'll select one respondent randomly to be the winner of a free pass to PR News' Aug. 10 Big 4 Social Media Summit in San Francisco. We'll also summarize the responses in a PR News article.
