Posts from Sports Dominated Political-Social Category on Instagram January-September 2020

It’s not news that 2020 seems destined for the history books. A global pandemic, protests against systemic racism and a critical election are some of reasons consumers insist brands take stands.

Ben & Jerry’s and Patagonia (# 3 and #5, respectively) are known for social activism. The surprises in this Shareablee chart include sports’ domination and, in particular, Converse in the top spot. The sportswear maker posted just 3 pieces of content on Instagram (Jan. 1-Sept 17). Yet each post averaged 185,009 consumer actions, per Shareablee, which provided this data to PRNEWS exclusively. Actions are the sum of shares, comments and likes. Converse’s posts had a #BLM theme.

In case you were wondering, Converse wasn’t even in the top 5,000 in this category on any platform in 2019, says Shareablee’s Madison Busick.
